Arizona offers one of the most accessible environments in the country for lawful firearm ownership. At the same time, every firearm and regulated item transaction in the United States follows established federal procedures.

Understanding Firearm Ownership in Arizona

Arizona recognizes the right to keep and bear arms and maintains a permissive legal framework for qualified adults.

Under Arizona law:

• Lawful adults may own and possess firearms
• The state does not require firearm registration
• Open and concealed carry are permitted for eligible individuals
• Arizona operates under constitutional carry with optional reciprocity permits

While Arizona law shapes possession and carry, all firearm purchases remain subject to federal regulations, including identity verification, ATF documentation, and background checks.

Firearm Purchase — In Person

Purchasing a firearm in person is a structured, federally regulated process designed to ensure lawful transfer.

You will present valid government-issued photo identification and personally complete ATF Form 4473. A background check is conducted through the FBI’s National Instant Criminal Background Check System.

A firearm may only be transferred once federal approval is received.

Identification Requirements

Your government-issued photo identification must reflect your current legal name and residential address.

Acceptable supplemental documents include:

• City or county utility bill
• Arizona hunting or fishing license
• Arizona Concealed Weapons Permit
• Temporary Arizona driver’s license

These documents are used solely to confirm residency under federal procedures.

Age Requirements

Federal law establishes minimum age requirements:

• 18 years of age or older for rifles and shotguns
• 21 years of age or older for handguns

Out-of-State Residents

Out-of-state residents may purchase long guns in Arizona when the transaction complies with both Arizona law and the purchaser’s home state laws.

Handguns must be transferred through a licensed dealer in the purchaser’s state of residence.

Firearm Purchase — Online

Federal law requires that firearms purchased online be transferred through a licensed Federal Firearms Licensee.

When purchasing online through KOmbat Solutions:

• Select the firearm and complete checkout
• Designate an FFL in your state of residence
• Firearm is shipped securely to that dealer
• Dealer completes ATF Form 4473 and background check
• Upon approval, lawful possession occurs

Suppressors and Short-Barreled Rifles

Regulated Under Federal Law

Suppressors, Short-Barreled Rifles, and certain specialized firearms are regulated under the National Firearms Act.

The federal application process includes:

• ATF Form 4 submission
• Fingerprints and passport-style photo
• Supporting trust or entity documentation

KOmbat Solutions assists throughout the process so documentation, biometrics, and compliance are handled properly.

Once approval is received, the final transfer is completed through standard procedures.

Responsibility and Compliance

Federal law requires that the person completing the transaction be the lawful purchaser. Purchasing on behalf of another individual is prohibited.

Certain individuals are legally restricted from firearm possession. Eligibility questions are addressed before proceeding.

Timing and Pickup

Once approvals are complete, final transfer and pickup must occur within the timeframe established by the receiving dealer.
